Cancer Connect

Cover of our Cancer Connect brochureTalk to someone who understands what you're going through and who knows what it's like to have cancer affect their life and the lives of their loved ones.

"My volunteer made me feel I wasn't alone."

Call the Cancer Council Helpline on 13 11 20 (Mon. to Fri. 8.30am to 8pm for the cost of a local call) and ask about our Cancer Connect program. We can link you with a trained volunteer who's had a similar cancer experience to you in terms of cancer type, treatment, age and family circumstances.

It's free and confidential.

All volunteers complete a training program and are supported by staff from our Cancer Council Helpline. They can offer emotional and practical support to people affected by cancer.

Cancer Connect is available for:

  • people diagnosed with any type of cancer
  • family and friends of someone with a cancer diagnosis
  • cancer survivors
  • people carrying a gene that increases their risk of developing cancer
  • those diagnosed with blood or bone marrow cancer (specialised NEW service).

A selected volunteer will give you a call at home when it's convenient. Support is available at any stage throughout the cancer experience - at diagnosis, during or after treatment.

We can link people all over Victoria with more than 160 volunteers who've had a range of cancer experiences.
